A complete blood count (CBC) is a blood test used to evaluate your overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia, infection and leukemia.
A complete blood count test measures several components and features of your blood, including:
• Red blood cells, which carry oxygen
• White blood cells, which fight infection
• Hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells
• Hematocrit, the proportion of red blood cells to the fluid component, or plasma, in your blood
• Platelets, which help with blood clotting
Widal test is used to diagnose Typhoid and Paratyphoid fevers. A 4 fold rise in titer is diagnostic of infection.
Positive IgM and IgG tests for dengue antibodies detected in an initial blood sample mean that it is likely that the person became infected with dengue virus within recent weeks. IgM antibody tests can be positive if a person has been infected with a similar virus, such as chikungunya (called cross-reaction).
A positive NS1 test result confirms dengue virus infection without providing serotype information. A negative NS1 test result does not rule out infection. People with negative NS1 results should be tested for the presence of dengue IgM antibodies to determine possible recent dengue exposure.
At present, malaria is diagnosed microscopically by looking for the parasites in a drop of blood. ADVANTAGE MALARIA CARD is a visual, rapid and sensitive solid phase immunochromographic assay for the qualitative differential detection of P. falciparum (HRP-2) and P. vivax malaria antigen in Human Whole Blood only.
